Avasshop21 is a North London handmade business created by Ava, a Jamaican maker born in Manchester, Jamaica and raised in Clarendon.

How it began

After the Covid pandemic brought Ava’s cleaning business to an end, she turned creativity, culture and determination into a new beginning. Avasshop21 grew from a home-based idea into a collection of handmade pieces that help Caribbean families and the wider diaspora bring a little piece of home into everyday life.

Made by hand, rooted in culture

Every Ludi board, domino table, doormat and home décor piece is designed with meaning. The colours, flags, parishes, family names and familiar sayings are not simply decoration—they carry memories, humour and stories that connect generations.

Products are handmade in small quantities, and custom work is carefully discussed before production. This means no two personal designs are exactly the same and production times reflect the care involved.

Jamaican roots, global connections

Jamaican culture sits at the heart of Avasshop21, while many designs also celebrate the places and cultures connected to our customers—from across the Caribbean to Britain, Africa, Europe, Canada and the United States.

The vision

Ava’s long-term vision is to create a family-run physical shop in the UK: a place where customers can step inside and feel the warmth, colour and familiarity of home in Jamaica and the Caribbean.

Until then, every order is made with the same purpose: to create conversation, connection and joyful memories around the home.
